Social Networks in the teaching-learning process in university students

Abstract

Social networks play an important role in the teaching-learning process, due to the multiple advantages they provide such as communication, teamwork, feedback, active and social learning, favoring the continuous interaction of all those involved in the process, supporting collaborative learning activities. The objective was to carry out a systematic review to know the role of social networks in the teaching-learning process in university students during the period 2016-2021. With a methodology based on the systematic review of scientific articles, a quantitative - retrospective approach, a non-experimental, cross-sectional bibliometric design. Only scientific articles related directly to the variable under study were examined, in journals registered in databases such as DOAJ, EBSCO, ERIC, SciELO and REDIB, making use of Boolean operators such as AND and OR, taking into account inclusion and exclusion criteria. finally obtaining 30 scientific articles as a sample results reveal that the use of social networks constitutes a favorable resource for learning. They conclude that it has a positive impact on student-centered learning, allows updating knowledge and providing feedback, developing collaborative strategies, proposing its incorporation into Higher Education, with disadvantages such distraction and deconcentration in the process.
